Kanchipuram silk sarees should be stored separately in pure cotton bags to allow the fabric to breathe. Avoid using plastic covers as they can cause the zari to turn black over time. It's recommended to refold your silk sarees every 3 months to prevent permanent creases and fabric wear at the folds.

For pure Banarasi silks, dry cleaning is the safest method. However, if you must handle a minor stain at home, use cold water and a mild protein-based detergent on the specific spot only. Never wring or brush a Banarasi saree, as it can damage the delicate silk threads and intricate zari work.

Always wipe your jewelry with a soft, lint-free cloth after wearing to remove sweat and oils. Store individual pieces in airtight zip-lock bags or velvet-lined boxes. Keep them away from perfumes, hairsprays, and moisture to maintain their original shine and prevent oxidation.

Kanjivaram sarees are best for grand weddings and major festivals due to their heavy gold zari and rich texture. Gadwal sarees, with their cotton bodies and silk borders, are more suitable for day events, pujas, and semi-formal gatherings as they are lighter and easier to drape for longer durations.

Never iron directly on stone work or embroidery. Always iron on the reverse side of the saree using a low heat setting. For best results, place a thin cotton cloth between the iron and the saree to protect the fabric and ensure even heat distribution without damaging the embellishments.
